Welcome to the Camping and Education Foundation, home to Camp Kooch-i-ching and Ogichi Daa Kwe, two of the premier summer canoeing camps in North America. The Foundation’s mission “to develop young men and women in body and spirit through wilderness experiences that celebrate a love of the outdoors” is as strong today as it was when Camp Kooch-i-ching was first established back in 1924.
Camp Kooch-i-ching for boys and Ogichi Daa Kwe for girls are situated about a mile apart on beautiful Rainy Lake, just outside the town of International Falls, Minnesota. Both camps offer a unique experience to young men and women ages 8-18 who are looking for a challenging wilderness experience. Our location right on the U.S/Canadian border gives us immediate access to the finest canoe country in the world but the adventure does not stop there. We offer backpacking, mountaineering and kayaking trips along with a rich variety of in-camp activities including woodsmanship, water and land sports, riflery, archery, Native American dancing, arts and crafts, climbing and ropes courses, athletics and sailing.
Recently, the Foundation launched a comprehensive capital campaign “Expedition 2016” to develop new facilities for our girls camp, advance our endowments in the areas of wilderness tripping, professional staff development and outdoor education.
Enjoy exploring our Foundation site or jump right to Kooch-i-ching and Ogichi for a packed tour of what we do best. Not matter your age, we promise you an opportunity of a lifetime – an opportunity to go on a wilderness quest that teaches self discovery, teamwork, service to others and above all, FUN!
